In celebration of Youth Financial Literacy Week, the Friends of the Plainfield Library are proud to host a Youth Maker’s Market for ages 5–18.

This event gives young creators the opportunity to practice entrepreneurship, build real-world money skills, and showcase their creativity — all while supporting their local library.

At Plainfield Public Library, we believe stories grow here — and so do young leaders.


🌟 Who Can Participate?

Youth ages 5–18 are invited to register as vendors.

All homemade items are welcome, including:

  • Art and crafts
  • Jewelry
  • Crochet/knit items
  • Woodworking
  • Slime or bath products
  • Baked goods (parental supervision required)

Space is limited, so sign-up now!


💲 Registration Details

  • $10 per participant (non-refundable)
  • Pre-registration is required
  • Registration deadline: Friday, April 10

Participants are responsible for:

  • Bringing their own display materials
  • Setting their own prices
  • Bringing startup cash and making change
  • Managing their table during the event

A parent/guardian must remain onsite for participants under age 12.


📚 Youth Financial Literacy 101 Workshop

To help our young entrepreneurs prepare, the library will host a:

Youth Financial Literacy 101 Workshop
📅 Friday, April 10 (after school)

Participants will learn:

  • How to price items
  • Budgeting basics
  • How to make change
  • Understanding profit
  • How to confidently interact with customers

Attendance is highly encouraged for all registered vendors.


🥪 Lunch Available

The Friends of the Plainfield Library will offer sack lunches for purchase during the event.
