The Plainfield Public Library is seeking a highly driven, energetic, and community-minded individual to serve as our Programming Coordinator.

This position is responsible for creating, developing, implementing, and maintaining engaging, inclusive, and accessible library programs that meet the evolving needs and interests of our rural community.

The ideal candidate is creative, organized, self-motivated, comfortable with technology, and passionate about building community connections through innovative programming.

Position Responsibilities

Plan and implement engaging library programs for a variety of ages and interests

Promote programs using social media and other marketing tools

Build partnerships and connect with community groups

Assist with everyday library operations, including circulation desk coverage as needed

Provide friendly, welcoming customer service

Track and evaluate program success

Work independently while incorporating feedback and direction

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

Is organized, creative, and self-motivated

Is comfortable using technology and social media

Enjoys working with people from a wide range of backgrounds

Has strong communication and customer service skills

Experience in libraries, education, marketing, youth work, recreation, or community engagement is helpful, but not required.

Position Details

Seasonal part-time position with potential for long-term employment

15 hours per week

Reports directly to the Library Director

Starting wage: $13.73/hour

No benefits included

Expected work hours fall within library operating hours:

Monday–Friday: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM

Saturday: 10:00 AM–1:00 PM
